Sink

Emma Moore

Why do you leave the dishes in our sink?
When I open the fridge, why is there no cream?
Why don’t you wash the tupperwares you bring?

You tell me to wait, I sit just to stink.
I go back to sleep and hope that you clean.
Why do you leave the dishes in our sink?

Week old fuzzy mold between teeth, pink
Flesh and bone, inching down inside my seam.
Why don’t you wash the tupperwares you bring?

The stovetop collects white pot grease. I think
I’m tired of washing with the moonbeam
Why do you leave the dishes in our sink?

You turn on the TV, watching the rink
Slip back on the couch to ask for cold cream.
Why don’t you wash the tupperwares you bring?

Now I watch you stagger to piss and sip milk.
Whispering nothing in my ear you lean.
Why do you leave the dishes in our sink?
Why don’t you wash the tupperwares you bring?
